Hit spy novel author Len Deighton (The Ipcress File) co-produced this adaptation of his book, a globetrotting comedic caper from director Basil Dearden (The Assassination Bureau), starring Richard Attenborough, David Hemmings, and Alexandra Stewart as a trio of confidence tricksters living very well at everyone else's expense.

Veteran conman Silas leads his two younger accomplices (the eager Bob and the calculating Liz) through an audacious scheme to swindle an African state out of a small fortune by palming off crates of scrap metal as anti-tank guns. But as the job unfolds across New York, London, and Beirut, the relationship between the three grows complicated, and they each start wondering whether they might do rather better without the others.
