description
A new skyscraper by architect Doug Roberts rises over 138 floors in the heart of San Francisco. When he returns from vacation shortly before the ceremonial opening, he discovers during the last tests that savings have been made on cabling - at the expense of safety guidelines. This is how disaster occurs at the housewarming party: a short circuit triggers a fire on the 81st floor. As the fire spreads beneath them, the partygoers are trapped at dizzying heights.
With groundbreaking special effects and a suspenseful storyline, Flaming INFERNO became a real blockbuster in 1975. The film team's outstanding performance was rewarded with three Oscar® awards and five other nominations, including for the terrific score by STAR WARS composer John Williams. Last but not least, the disaster film captivates with an outstanding ensemble of Hollywood greats such as Paul Newman (THE CLOU) and Steve McQueen (BROKEN CHAINS).
